Heartbroken. That is one of many words that could describe my attitude to the dismissal of the UAB football program. President Ray Watts declared on December 2 that he would be disbanding the football program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham due to a lack of funding. The Blazers are coming off one of their most successful seasons since the founding of the football program in 1991. They are 6-6 and bowl eligible for the 1st time since 2004. Whether or not they will playing in a bowl game is still up in the air. The players, coaches, and fans were more than upset when the announcement came out. Watts claimed that the reason for the dismissal was because of money. However, UAB actually made money by spending $8.96 million on their football program. That number of $8.96 million is lower than the total revenue of $8.98 million. The plan is that this will help other sports succeed with more funding. That may not be the case because a lot of athletic teams may have to drop down to Division 2 or they need to find a new conference due to the fact that you need to play football to be a Conference USA member. This whole situation is just awful. My heart goes out to those players and coaches who came from all over the country to be apart of the UAB brotherhood. Below is a link to the UAB players and coaches meeting with President Ray Watts. (Warning: Contains NSFW Language)

College Basketball is Back... And So Am I!
I am very song for the LONG hiatus I took, and I will be posting regularly from now on, so please make sure to check back consistently. I am not the only thing that is returning to action, though. College basketball is upon us and the real tip-off is tonight with the biggest game of the early season between #1 Kentucky taking on #5 Kansas at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
Kentucky is coming in uncontested with a record of 2-0. They are lead by a mix of Juniors, Sophomores, and Freshman who are the main reason the Wildcats have the #1 ranking. The Big Blue can beat you up inside and have a bevy of inside post presences whether it is Willie Cauley-Stein, Dakari Johnson, or Karl Towns. You can't focus too much on those group of players because the Harrison twins, Alex Poythress, and Freshman Trey Lyles can make you pay too.
Kansas is 1-0 with its only victory coming over UCSB by 10 points. Perry Ellis is the go-to-guy for the Jayhawks, who are on a quest not just for their 12th straight Big 12 Championship (regular season or Big 12 tournament,) but a Final Four appearance. The 6-8 Junior Forward from Wichita averaged about 14 points and 7 rebounds last season. Other scoring options include Devonte Graham and Frank Mason III. The Jayhawks will need Wayne Selden Jr. to score and distribute the ball well to have a chance at the victory tonight.
Prediction: Kansas 68 Kentucky 63- I think the Jayhawks escape Indy with a very big win that could come in handy down the stretch. Watch out for stud Freshman Cliff Alexander to shine coming off the bench. The Chicago native is 6-8 and 240 lbs and has the ability to take over games. I believe this will be his coming-out party.

Final Four Picks and Analysis
This NCAA Tournament has been crazy and it is down to four teams. Wisconsin, UCONN, Florida, and Kentucky all have taken tough roads to get to where they are now in North Texas. The #1 overall seed Florida had a relatively easier road to the Final Four compared to the other 3 teams still in, but the South Region was a hotbed for upsets. They are a very Senior-heavy team and are lead by Point Guard Scottie Wilbekin. They are strong in the paint with Dorian Finney-Smith and Patrick Young. The Gators will be facing the red-hot UCONN team that relies heavily on PG Shabazz Napier. UCONN has beaten St. Joe's in OT, Villanova, Iowa State, and Michigan State to get to Dallas. They came into the tournament a #7 seed and losing their conference championship game to Louisville. They finished their regular season with a 33 point drubbing against Louisville. They were on the wrong side of that massacre. On the other side of the bracket, Wisconsin has been playing terrific basketball lately. They are lead by 7' 0" Center Frank Kaminsky. Kaminsky has been playing great. He can shoot from anywhere on the court. This Badgers team is very efficient and one of the most important players for them is Freshman Nigel Hayes who comes off the bench. He gives them some extra athleticism. Kentucky had to go through the Region of Death. Their whole region was made for TV. They met Wichita State in the Round of 32 and escaped. They then beat a Louisville team that was a tourney favorite. The Wildcats then knocked out Michigan to clinch a spot in the Final Four.
#7 UCONN vs. #1 Florida
6:09 P.M.
This will be one of the best Point Guard matchups you will see in college basketball with Shabazz Napier and Scottie Wilbekin. The key to this game is if the Huskies can handle Florida inside. It will be tough, especially when their leading rebounded is Napier. DeAndre Daniels will have to step up tonight. I expect Casey Prather to have a big game for the Gators.
My Pick: Florida 72 UCONN 65
#8 Kentucky vs. #2 Wisconsin
8:49 P.M.
8:49 P.M.
This will be a very exciting game and UK is very strong inside and is extremely young. Three of Kentucky's starters are from the state of Texas. The two Harrison twins have stepped up hugely lately. Sam Dekker will have to have a big game for the Badgers. The big question for Kentucky is if Sophomore Center Willie Cauley-Stein will take the floor. This will come down to the wire.
My Pick: Kentucky 63 Wisconsin 61

Rivalry Rematch
The biggest rematch of the college basketball season lost some of its luster this week when both #1 Syracuse and #5 Duke lost. Duke lost to archrival UNC just 40 hours ago in Durham. Syracuse was upset at HOME against BC in an Overtime heartbreaker 62-59. These two teams played a historic game on February 1st when the Orange beat the Blue Devils at the Carrier Dome 91-89 in an OT classic. This has already turned into a big rivalry now that Syracuse is in the ACC with Duke. As a Georgetown fan, it pains me to see Cuse in such a fun new rivalry. These are the two best coached teams in the country with the two best active coaches in the nation in Jim Boeheim and Mike Kryzewski. This game also showcases two of the best Freshman in the country (Tyler Ennis and Jabari Parker). Not to mention it has arguably the two best SF in the country in Jabari Parker and CJ Fair. Parker has to start playing better defense. He was poor defensively against UNC ON Thursday. Last time these two met up, Duke got into foul trouble and had a hard time stopping the Orange in the paint. I think Jerami Grant of Syracuse will have a big day. He leads the team in rebounds with 7.2 a game. Rodney Hood will have his hands full trying to guard these guys and will need help. Amile Jefferson will have to play well for Duke to be successful. I expect Marshall Plumlee to get some more minutes off the bench. This game has a tough act to follow after their last matchup and it will be hard to reach expectations.
My Pick: Syracuse 74 Duke 68

Olympic Heartbreaker + Men's Semifinal Picks
The numbers that will be in every American's head are 3:30. The US Women's hockey team was 3 minutes and 30 seconds away from a gold medal up 2 goals on archrival Canada until Brianne Jenner netted a goal for our neighbors up north and gave them some life. The Canadians then pulled their goalie with about a minute and 30 seconds left and then just a few seconds later a shot from US forward Kelli Stack hit the empty net post and was a matter of inches from clinching the game. Marie-Philip Poulin stole the show and tied the game up with 55 seconds to play. She was the hero last Olympics for that Gold Medal-winning team. The game went to OT and after a few chances that the US couldn't convert they found themselves down 2 players and trying to kill a Power Play opportunity by the Canadians. With some excellent passing, Poplin struck again and sniped a game-winning shot. It was a devastating loss for the US women and they played their hearts out, but Canada just found a way to win. US fans were torn up about this loss, while the Canadian fans were ecstatic. The Canadian/US hockey rivalry will be renewed tomorrow when the men's teams take each other on.
Finland vs. Sweden
7:00 AM
These two teams have been rather impressive and stirred things up in this tournament. Everybody expect Russia to be here instead of Finland, but the Finns upset the fan favorite Russian team. The Finns did well in group play, losing just one game to Canada. They are lead by Boston Bruins' Goalie Tuuka Rask. Rask has played great throughout these Olympic Games. Possibly the best player on this Finland team and the player to watch is Teemu Selanne of the Anaheim Ducks. In the win against Russia, Selanne had a goal and an assist. Despite being the #1 seed, this Sweden team has gone under the radar even though they were in a very deep group. Henrik Lundquist has been very consistent this tournament and is tough to score on. This team has been devastated with injuries and has still been playing terrific hockey. They have missed Henrik Zetterberg and Henrik Sedin. However, the Swedes have the other Sedan twin, Daniel. They have gotten a great impact from Carl Hagelin and Niklas Kronwall. This should be a low-scoring affair, and I expect Sweden to pull it out.
Canada vs. USA
12:00 PM
This is a very intense rivalry and when these two teams take the ice it is always extremely intense. This has the makings to be a truly historic game. Canada has relied heavily on Shea Weber this Olympic Games and he has delivered. He has one of the hardest snapshots in the world and will make you pay if you try and block his torpedo of a shot. The hero of the tournament so far for the US has been TJ Oshie. He came up big in the win against Russia scoring 4 times in the shootout to anchor this team to a gutsy shootout victory. This is a revenge match for the US after Canada took the gold from them in 2010 in Vancouver after a Sidney Crosby GW-goal in OT. Crosby is the captain of this Canadian team. This game should be extremely tight and I believe it will come down to goaltending. If it does indeed come down to goaltending, I will take Jonathan Quick (US) over Carey Price (CAN).

College Basketball Update
Saturday is a huge day in the college basketball universe as there are some huge showdowns that are must watches. The top two teams in the SEC will go at it when #3 Florida takes on #14 Kentucky. Florida has won 16 straight games and is lead by a core group of seniors. PG Scottie Wilbekin is one of the most underrated players in the country. Kentucky poses matchup problems inside with Julius Randle and Willie Cauley-Stein and will most definitely be tough to handle. The 6-9 senior Patric Young will have to step up tomorrow night in what will be a huge game. This game will take place at Rupp Arena in Kentucky and College Gameday is there. These two teams will play again in the last regular season game in Florida. This matchup showcases not only the best talent in the country, but two of the top 5 best coaches in college basketball in Bill Donovan and John Calipari. I think that Florida is one of the best teams in the country, but I believe the Wildcats will come up with a huge victory at home.
The best team in the country is Syracuse. They are one of the two unbeaten teams in the country, the other one being Wichita State, and they have had their fair share of close games. Their leader is a Freshman PG who has asserted himself into the National Player of the Year conversation. His name is Tyler Ennis. Ennis can do everything you ask of him. He is a great passer, finishes at the rim well, can shoot the deep ball, plays great defense, and is extremely clutch. If you want to know how well Ennis is at all of these things, just ask Pittsburgh fans. In the Cuse/Pitt matchup this year, Ennis has taken over late in games and by now you have probably seen his 35-foot buzzer beater to beat the Panthers. With all the talk about Julius Randle, Jabari Parker, and Andrew Wiggins, people forgot about the 6-2 Canadian PG coming out of St. Benedict's Prep (NJ). He has everybody's attention now, and in my eyes is the best Freshman in the country. However, Ennis isn't doing this thing by himself. CJ Fair is also a Wooden Award candidate and frontrunner, Jerami Grant has had a breakout season, and Trevor Cooney is arguably the best shooter in the country. The Orange have just 7 games left from running the table, but two of those include matchups against #8 Duke (at Cameron Indoor) and #17 Virginia. This team's season doesn't end there, though. I would be surprised if this team didn't make a Final Four run. They have to watch out for a trap game coming up with NC State. NC State has the ACC's leading scorer in T.J. Warren and Syracuse is just coming off an emotional high against Pitt.

Sochi 2014: Hockey Preview
I am sorry for the delay, but I am back in business and will be updating a lot more from now on. The Winter Olympics are entering their second weekend and this is where things will start to heat up with the hockey starting. Olympic hockey could be my favorite thing in the world to watch. I am not an avid hockey fan, but it is so exciting to follow. The Olympic hockey has no fighting, which makes the games go along quicker. This year's tournament should be epic, but it will be tough to follow what happened four years ago in Vancouver when Canada beat the US in the Gold Medal Game in OT. The hockey events started Wednesday, but the three frontrunners took the ice Thursday.
The Favorite: Canada
After a slow start in a 3-1 win over a Norway team that boasts 1 NHL player, you probably wouldn't give the title of favorite away to this team. That is the thought from an American right now. The fact of the matter is that this team deserves this label. They are the defending champs and have a star-studded lineup. The big question will be if these guys can adapt to being role players. Almost every single one of these players is the go-to-guy on their NHL team, but with players like Sidney Crosby, Shea Weber, and Jonathan Toes, some players will have to take a back seat. Weber played a great game against Norway, but the man who set everything up was Patrice Bergeron. He had two great assists in the game.
The Other Favorite: USA
This sounds weird, but there is really no other way to put it. Especially after a dominating 7-1 win over a decent Slovakia team, the US and Canada look to be neck and neck. This 7-1 masterpiece showcased a 2nd Period with 6 US goals. All of the men contributed and they stayed out of the penalty box. It also helped that they had Jonathan Quick in the net. Zach Parise is the captain of this team and has some great help. They have a young group of defensemen, but they stepped up in their first game. We will learn a lot from Saturday's game against a Russia team with a plethora of talent and a home crowd.
The Dark Horse: Russia
There is a lot on the line for this Russian team, and it is gold or bust. The home fans should have a lot to cheer about as this team has plenty of good players. They are lead by Captain Pavel Datsyuk who is returning from a knee injury. They also have one of the top 3 players in the world in Alexander Ovechkin. Not to mention they have Evgeni Malkin and Ilya Kovalchuk. Yes, the same Ilya Kovalchuk that turned down the monster contract the Devils gave him to play in the KHL. They have two great goalies in Sergei Bobrovsky and Semyon Varlamov. Both should get time in the net. There will be a huge amount of pressure on this team every time they take the ice.
The Challenger: Sweden
This Sweden team is under the radar, and will be tough to handle. With Henrik Lundqvist in net, teams will have a tough time scoring. In their 4-2 win over a quality Czech Republic team Henrik Zetterberg and Erik Karlsson combined for three goals and I expect both of them to carry this team offensively. The Group C that they are in is deep, but they have some of the best defensemen in the Olympics. They will cause some problems for some teams.
My Predictions:
Gold: US over Canada- One word: Revenge.
Silver: Canada
Bronze: Sweden over Russia- Pressure too much for this Russian team.
Gold: US over Canada- One word: Revenge.
Silver: Canada
Bronze: Sweden over Russia- Pressure too much for this Russian team.

Big Apple Super Bowl
I am sincerely sorry for the long hiatus I have taken the last month, but I am back to give you a full breakdown on the Super Bowl. As you well know, the Seahawks and Broncos will go at it at 6:25 at MetLife Stadium for all the marbles. This game is full of intrigue and has some great matchup to watch. You most likely heard Seattle CB Richard Sherman's interview after the win against the 49ers in the NFC Championship. These teams have had a very similar road to the Super Bowl, dominating most opponents in the regular season and having some close games in the Playoffs, but still prevailing. The Broncos knocked off the Patriots in Denver to clinch their ticket to NY/NJ. There are so many storylines to this game, including the weather. Everybody has been stressing about the weather that will happen on Sunday evening, and, as a New Yorker, I think they are making too big of a deal out of this. This is the way football should be played. There has been a lot of pressure put on Peyton Manning to win his 2nd Super Bowl in his brother's house. He is going up against the best secondary and defense in the league. The key of the game will be the Broncos' receiving core against this Seattle secondary. Seattle likes to play physical, and it should be interesting to see the stacked Denver receivers respond to that. Eric Decker, Demaryius Thomas, Wes Welker, and Julius Thomas are going to have to help Manning out today against Defensive Backs such as Richard Sherman, Kam Chancellor, Earl Thomas, and Walter Thurmond. Neither teams have a plethora of Super Bowl experience. In fact, no Seahawks have ever played in the Super Bowl, and only 4 Broncos have. The big question will be if Denver can stop the Seattle rushing attack with Marshawn Lynch and the scrambling ability of QB Russell Wilson. Denver can run the ball too with a nice one-two punch consisting of Knowshon Moreno and a little bit of Montee Ball. This should be a historic game, and it will come down to the wire.
My Pick: Seattle 27 Denver 20
I think the Seahawks get it done with a balanced offensive attack and I think Russell Wilson and Golden Tate connect for a few scores.
Super Bowl MVP: Golden Tate

BCS National Championship Preview: #2 Auburn vs #1 Florida State
This is the end of the BCS era and it looks to be a great finale to what was a controversial 16 years of the BCS. Next year college football is moving to a 4-team playoff and many people are excited about it. However, there is one more game to play. Tonight, for maybe once in a few years, the two best teams in college football will play for the National Championship. There is no doubt that Auburn and Florida State are the best teams in the land. Auburn is a dynamic running team, while Florida State is probably more balanced on offense. They are lead by Freshman sensation and Heisman winner Jameis Winston. Winston is a beast and can make plays happen at any time. He is a great leader and is the heart of this FSU team. He has a great set of WR in Kelvin Benjamin, Kenny Shaw, Rashad Greene, and Nick O'Leary at Tight End. All the talk is on Jameis Winston, but there is another QB in this game that doesn't get a lot of press. Nick Marshall has done what he has needed to do and has made plays using his feet. He is a very solid Dual-Threat QB. He also has help with the best RB in the country in Tre Mason. Mason has been a monster this season, but he is going up against a stout defense in Florida State. The key matchup of the game is between the Auburn secondary and FSU's receivers. These two teams have very historic programs. Auburn is looking to win their 2nd National Championship in 4 years and the Seminoles are looking to capture their 3rd National Title.
My Season Picks Record: 34-20
My National Championship Pick: Auburn 34 Florida State 33
Gus Malzahn has done a terrific job with his team this season and I think it will all pay off tonight as they hoist the Crystal Ball. This game could come down to a few trick plays, and I think Auburn has the edge in that department. No team has been able to slow down the Tigers' rushing attack this season, and I think they will keep rolling tonight in a thriller.

Wild Card Weekend in the Cold
This Wild Card weekend should be a goody with some great matchups. Mother Nature has come into play in the East, so temperatures should be freezing. I am on a cross-country road trip to get back to New York, so please be patient as everything will be pushed back a little.
Saturday Games
#5 Chiefs vs #4 Colts
Lucas Oil Stadium
4:35 PM
These two teams met just a few weeks ago, and Indy got the better of Kansas City. The Chiefs are built around their defense, but have lost 5 of their last 7. Andrew Luck has established a connection with his receivers. None more than TY Hilton. Hilton has had 82 catches this season and 5 of those were TDs. Chiefs QB Alex Smith's last Playoff game was a loss to the Giants in the NFC Championship just two years ago. The Chiefs have lost their last 7 Playoff appearances. The Indy defense should be in great shape if they contain Jamal Charles. Charles has been a beast this year. He leads the team in receiving and rushing yards.
My Pick: Colts 30 Chiefs 17
#6 Saints vs #3 Eagles
Lincoln Financial Field
8:10 PM
This game features two great QBs that might not be able to show their greatness. The conditions in Philly are horrendous and it makes for a sloppy game. Lucky for Eagle's fans, they have the best RB in the league in LeSean McCoy. He will get a boatload of carries in the snow. The Saints will have their hands full with a rowdy crowd and a determined Eagles team. Not to mention, Drew Brees on the road isn't the same Drew Brees at home. This could be a career defining game for him. He hasn't won a big road game in his NFL career.
My Pick: Eagles 24 Saints 20
Sunday Games
#6 Chargers vs #3 Bengals
Paul Brown Stadium
1:05 PM
The Bengals are looking to end a 23-year Playoff win drought. They have to go up against the explosive Chargers that are surging at the exact right time. Phillip Rivers and co. haven't been in the dance in 3 years and are trying to make some noise. Cincy is undefeated at home this year, but they have been very sloppy. The Bengals need to improve if they want to even get past the 1st round of these Playoffs. The player to watch on San Diego is rookie WR Keenan Allen. He has 8 TDs this season on 71 receptions. The Bengals also have a strong rookie RB Giovani Bernard. He has split carries with BenJarvus Green-Ellis. This will be a close game, and should be back and forth.
My Pick: Chargers 31 Bengals 27
#5 49ers vs #4 Packers
Lambeau Field
4:40 PM
Get ready folks, this is going to be a classic. These two teams aren't the best of friends after the 49ers knocked the Packers out of the Playoffs last season. The temperature at game time is supposed to be -23 degrees! It is sort of a bummer these two teams are playing in the 1st Round because I can see both of them going far. Green Bay has Aaron Rodgers back and a newfound rushing game with rookie Eddie Lacy. San Francisco arguablt has the best all-around team in the NFL, but they are running into the wrong team.
My Pick: Packers 20 49ers 16
Wednesday, January 1, 2014
BCS Bowls: Predictions and Breakdown
Rose Bowl
#5 Michigan State vs #4 Stanford
5:00 PM
These two teams are very similar and live to pound the ball. The big storyline is that Spartan Senior LB Max Bullough has been suspended for violating team rules. This came as a shock to me because of his MSU family tradition. This could really hurt the Spartans against Stanford's exceptional running game. This game will be won at the line of scrimmage, but don't underestimate the QB on both of these teams. Connor Cook (MSU) and Kevin Hogan (STAN) can both create big plays. Hogan has some great WR, but MSU has a great secondary lead by CB Darqueze "No fly-zone" Dennard. This will be a great game, but I think Stanford will pull it out and RB Tyler Gaffney will win MVP.
My Pick: Stanford 20 Michigan State 17
Fiesta Bowl
#15 Central Florida vs #6 Baylor
8:30 PM
This has been a historic season for both of these teams. This could be considered the best year for UCF and Baylor. They have been lead by great QB play. UCF's Blake Bottles is a top prospect in the draft this year. Baylor's Bryce Petty has had some great help with star RB Lache Seastrunk. UCF has a good one-two punch running the ball with Storm Johnson and Will Stanback. The UCF defense will have a troublesome time trying to stop the Baylor offense.
My Pick: Baylor 45 UCF 34
Sugar Bowl
#11 Oklahoma vs #3 Alabama
8:30 PM January 2
To be perfectly honest, I don't think Oklahoma should be in this bowl game. I really wanted to see Oregon face off with Alabama. However, you never know when it comes to college football. Oklahoma could come out and shock the world. It is really tough to pick against a Nick Saban coached team with a month to prepare. I think Bama will come out hot and will pound the ball down the Sooners' throats. I don't think the Oklahoma defense will be able to slow down the Tide.
My Pick: Alabama 38 Oklahoma 13
Orange Bowl
#12 Clemson vs #7 Ohio State
8:30 PM January 3
This matchup features two very explosive QBs in Tajh Boyd and Braxton Miller. Both of these teams are coming off losses and are the 2nd best teams in their respective conferences. This is Boyd's last game as a Tiger. The same goes for star WR Sammy Watkins, as he is entering the NFL Draft. The Clemson defense will have a challenge in trying to stop OSU RB Carlos Hyde. This game has the makings to be a classic.
My Pick: Clemson 30 Ohio State 27
Auburn/Florida State Preview to come January 5
Sunday, December 29, 2013
For All the Marbles
The game of the week comes from the NFC East when the Eagles and Cowboys will go at it in Dallas. As you most likely know, Tony Romo is out because of back surgery. Kyle Orton is filling in for Romo. Dallas will have to rely on RB DeMarco Murray. Murray has been very good this year when healthy, but he hasn't gotten the amount of touches he deserves. His counterpart LeSean McCoy has asserted himself as one of the best RB in the league. The Eagles are the hottest team in the NFC with 2nd year QB Nick Foles running the show. Foles has done a great job replacing Michael Vick. The Cowboys have had terrible luck and have been very banged up and I think the injuries will catch up with them.
My Pick: Eagles 31 Cowboys 13

Bowl Season Extravaganza
Bowl season has already begun, but we are really starting to get to the good games that are on everybody's mind. The bowl season started out with Colorado State making an epic comeback to defeat Washington State in a thriller. I will give you a preview of my top 5 non-BCS Bowl games and then a thorough breakdown of the BCS Bowls over the next few days. There are many storylines to this year's schedule that should be exciting to watch unfold.
Top 5 non-BCS Bowls:
Russell Athletic Bowl
Miami vs. #18 Louisville
6:45 PM December 28
Miami started the season off very hot until they met the dynamic Florida State squad in a very hyped game that ended in a beat down on the Canes. Louisville's only loss came to a good UCF team who is playing in a BCS Bowl. This could be Teddy Bridgewater's last game as a Cardinal, and he has some history to The U. Bridgewater, a star out of Miami Northwestern High School, originally committed to his hometown team, but changed his mind and went to Louisville. Bridgewater has had a terrific career with Louisville. The key to this game will be if the Cardinals defense can stop the ground and pound running game of Miami, lead by Duke Johnson. He has been a beast this season and has kept this Miami team together. Don't sleep on Miami QB Stephen Morris, though. He has thrown for over 2,800 yards and 21 TD. This Louisville defense has been stingy, but they haven't faced an offense (with the exception to UCF) like Miami's.
My Pick: Louisville 38 Miami 24
Alamo Bowl
Texas vs. #10 Oregon
6:45 PM December 30
This is Mack Brown's last game as coach of the Texas Longhorns, and he has had an illustrious career with UT. It will be a tough matchup for his team as they face a dynamic Oregon offense. Ducks' QB Marcus Mariota is electrifying and tough to stop. He will be coming back next year as he declined the NFL Draft for one more season with Oregon. Oregon's offense averages 46.8 points per game and is top 20 in the nation in both rushing and passing yards. I think Oregon will be too tough to stop and put a damper on Mack Brown's going out party.
My Pick: Oregon 48 Texas 27
Chick-fil-a Bowl
#24 Duke vs #21 Texas A&M
8:00 PM December 31
This might be the legendary Johnny Manziel's last game as a collegiate athlete. Duke is coming off a loss in the ACC Championship to Florida State. It has been a historic season for the Blue Devils. The Coastal Division Champions have had a fantastic ride, but they are facing one of the best playmakers in all of college football. Manziel has some big targets, including WR Mike Evans. Evans has been a beast this season by putting up huge numbers. I don't think Duke will be able to stop this A&M offense.
My Pick: Texas A&M 42 Duke 17
Capital One Bowl
#19 Wisconsin vs #9 South Carolina
1:00 PM January 1
I am so excited for this matchup between these two very good teams. The Wisconsin O-line will have a tough time trying to stop the South Carolina D-line. Jadeveon Clowney will try to finish his SC career with a big win. Wisconsin has great balance on offense with Melvin Gordon and James White carrying the ball and Jared Abbrederis at WR. The Badgers defense is 5th in the country by only allowing 14 points per game. South Carolina QB Connor Shaw is a great dual-threat QB and is a major threat. This game will be won at the line of scrimmage and I think that the Gamecocks will win their 2nd straight Capital One Bowl in a close matchup.
My Pick: South Carolina 27 Wisconsin 24
Cotton Bowl
#13 Oklahoma State vs #8 Missouri
7:30 PM January 3
This game pits two of the most explosive offenses in the country. Mizzou has one of the the best set of WR in all of college football. They create matchup problems for any secondary. Oklahoma State is coming off a crushing loss to rival Oklahoma. OSU RB Desmond Roland averages about 5 yards per carry and is one of the most underrated players in the Big 12. The Cowboys' defense will have a very tough time stopping the electric James Franklin. Franklin is one of the most fun players in college football to watch. I think he will be the difference between these two teams.
My Pick: Missouri 38 Oklahoma State 27
My Pick: Louisville 38 Miami 24
Alamo Bowl
Texas vs.

Game of the Week: Who You Calling Old?
The game of the week features two Playoff hopeful teams in need of a win to keep up in their divisions and the Wild Card race. The Ravens and Lions will go at it tonight at Ford Field in Detroit. There has been some pre-game chatter between the two teams. Most notably came from Baltimore CB Matt Elam. He has the daunting task of covering WR Calvin Johnson. This is a motivated Johnson after Elam called him "old." Johnson, 28, is the best WR in the league, so Elam should have a rough night. Both these teams need these wins after the Bears won and the Dolphins beat the Patriots. The Lions are 1/2 a game behind the Bears and the Ravens are 1/2 a game behind the Dolphins. Both of these teams have had 10 days to prepare for this game because they both won on Thanksgiving Day. This has the makings for an exciting game, and I think The explosive Detroit offense prevails in the end.
My Pick: Lions 34 Ravens 20
My Season Record: 8-6

Game of the Week: Beardown
With all of the inclement weather we have had, it should make for an entertaining game tonight when the Bears take on the Cowboys at Soldier Field in Chicago. The game-time weather should be at or below freezing. Both of these teams need to win to keep up with the teams ahead of them in their division. The winner of this game will then be tied up at the top of their divisions. The Bears are a 1/2 game behind the Lions in the NFC North. The same goes for the Cowboys with the Eagles in the NFC East. The Bears rushing defense is very shaky, so DeMarco Murray should get a lot of the touches for Dallas. Jay Cutler is out for the Bears, and it comes at a bad time. However, Josh McCown has it a little easier on him as the Cowboys pass defense is the worst in the league. Not to mention McCown has targets in Brandon Marshall, Marcellus Bennett, and Alshon Jeffery. This will be a very interesting game, but I see Matt Forte having a big running day. The Cowboys defense is in the bottom five of the league at stopping the run, too.
My Pick: Chicago 31 Cowboys 23
My Season Record: 7-6

Championship Weekend
This tends to be the most exciting weekend every year in college football with all the conference championships. There are some very intriguing matchups with big storylines that will effect the BCS Championship Game.
#5 Missouri vs #3 Auburn
4:00 PM
Auburn is obviously coming off one of the biggest wins in its program's storied history, but they have to be focused purely on Mizzou. Missouri would be undefeated if it wasn't for a 4th quarter collapse against South Carolina. James Franklin has been terrific when healthy this year. The winner of this game could be playing for a BCS Championship. The Auburn secondary will have a tough time matching up with the tall Missouri Wide Receivers. The game will be won up front on the line. Mizzou's D-line will have to come up big today against the dynamic Auburn rushing attack.
My Pick: Auburn 37 Missouri 31
#7 Stanford vs #11 Arizona State
7:45 PM
This should be a tough and gritty football game. The Arizona State defensive front 7 has tremendous talent, but they will have to stop the bulldozer in Stanford's RB Tyler Gaffney. The Cardinals rushing attack is lead by their big line. This will be a contrast of styles as ASU loves to throw the ball with QB Taylor Kelly. The Stanford D is up for a challenge today. ASU has an under the radar WR in Jaelen Strong. He is someone to watch tonight.
My Pick: Stanford 27 Arizona State 21
#2 Ohio State vs #10 Michigan State
8:17 PM
This could be the biggest game of the day between two very strong football teams. OSU needs to win this game to have any shot at a national title. this would boost their credentials a lot against a very good team in Michigan State. I think a lot of OSU fans are looking past this Spartan team and are only fearing being jumped by an SEC team in the BCS Standings. The Buckeyes better fear this MSU team, because they have the best defense in the country and will come to play tonight. I think they will shut down this OSU offense and get the win.
My Pick: Michigan State 20 Ohio State 10
My Season Pick Record: 25-17

Game of the Week: Fight for the Top Spot
The game of the week should be a goody. The Seahawks (10-1) and Saints (9-2) will go at it tonight at CenturyLink Field in Seattle in what could be the biggest regular season game of the year to this date. This game could decide who has the #1 seed in the Playoffs and home-field advantage. Home-field advantage is huge for these two teams, as they both are fantastic at home and play in rowdy environments. Seattle is one of the loudest atmospheres in all of sports. The Seahawks will be missing Brandon Browner (groin) and Walter Thurmond (suspension) against Drew Brees and the high flying Saints offensive attack. The Saints' defense has improved drastically this year. However, I think they will have a tough time stopping Marshawn Lynch. I expect Lynch to have a big day and open up the passing attack for Russell Wilson with a healthy Percy Harvin.
My Prediction: Seahawks 27 Saints 24
My Season Record: 6-6

Iron Bowl for the Ages
The center of attention this week is on the state of Alabama when #4 Auburn and #1 Alabama take each other on for the right to play in the SEC Championship. In the historic Iron Bowl rivalry, this could be the biggest matchup between the two ever. Alabama is undefeated and in the driver's seat for the National Championship. Auburn is 10-1, with their only loss coming to LSU. This has all the ingredients for a great game. I am 23-16 this year with all my predictions and I have been hot coming down the final stretch.
#1. Alabama vs #4 Auburn
3:30 PM
The winner of this matchup will have to go through either #5 Missouri or #10 South Carolina in the SEC Championship. Both teams love to pound you upfront and run the ball right down your throat. RB Tre Mason has been a beast this season for the Tigers along with Dual-threat QB Nick Marshall. Alabama has arguably the best defense in the country, so it will be interesting to see who comes out victorious in that category. This will be a very tight and hard nosed game, but I think the Bama defense is too much for Auburn.
My Pick: Alabama 27 Auburn 17
#6 Clemson vs #10 South Carolina
7:00 PM
These two teams do not like each other and it makes for a hard fought game. Clemson has been overshadowed since that loss to Florida State. The key will be to see if the Tigers can protect QB Tajh Boyd from that fierce South Carolina front 7. Connor Shaw is the heart and soul of the Gamecocks. The Senior QB has carried the offense on his back the whole season. This should be a back and forth game, but I think South Carolina is going to send a message to the world tonight and come out and lay it on Clemson.
My Pick: South Carolina 35 Clemson 24
#25 Notre Dame vs #8 Stanford
7:00 PM
Everyone remembers how this game ended last season with ND's goal line stand to beat the Cardinals. Stanford is playing some very good football as of late and will once again look to shove it down your throat. I am not sure ND has the depth to handle the Cardinals. I think Stanford will wear down the Fighting Irish. As long as Stanford accounts for WR TJ Jones and DaVaris Daniels, they should be good. However, I have learned the hard way never to count out Notre Dame. I expect them to come to play and make a game of this.
My Pick: Stanford 35 Notre Dame 26

Game of the Week: The Rivalry Goes On
The game of the week consists of two of the best QB of all time in Tom Brady and Peyton Manning. The Patriots and Broncos will go at it in New England. This is the first time in years that the Patriots are not favored to win at home. These 2 teams are the frontrunners in the AFC and have established themselves as the teams to beat. The Pats are coming off a controversial loss to the Panthers while the Broncos had a statement win last week against the Chiefs. This will be the 14th time Manning and Brady have played against each other. Brady has a 9-4 edge over Manning, but I think Peyton will get one back tonight with the help of his teammates. It will be chilly in Foxborough and I think Montee Ball and Knowshon Moreno will have big running days for Denver. They will take some of the weight off Peyton, who has a hobbled ankle.
My Pick: Denver 27 New England 24
Season Record: 6-5
