Otto-matic

On a historic Saturday afternoon in upstate New York, one man grabbed all the attention. Otto Porter lead his Georgetown Hoyas to victory in the last game between Syracuse and Georgetown at the Carrier Dome. These two teams will meet again on March 9 in DC. Porter posted 33 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 steals. The Hoyas ran away with the game and sent the Orange fans home disappointed. Georgetown is now 11-3 in the Big East. The Hoyas are sitting at #1 in the conference. This Georgetown team is very dangerous. They are a very different team from past years. Expect a deep NCAA Tournament run. The Hoyas will take on UConn on Wednesday in Storrs.

Carrier Dome Classic

Tomorrow Georgetown and Syracuse will go at it in the last ever matchup between these two teams at the Carrier Dome. The Hoyas will host the Orange later on in March. This game is going to shatter Syracuse home game attendance records. Syracuse has decided to stop selling tickets. 35,012 people will be watching the game from the seats of the Carrier Dome. These two teams are tied atop the Big East. Both are coming off big wins. Otto Porter hurt his knee and had to leave in the Georgetown blowout win over DePaul on Wednesday. He still should be at full strength. Syracuse has had a balanced scoring attack this year. This game will be very fun to watch, but I think Syracuse will come out on top.

Friday Night Hoops

There is some pretty exciting basketball that will be played tonight. I am not really talking about the NBA Celebrity Game, although that is pretty fun to watch. There is a huge matchup in the Big East. Georgetown will be taking on Cincinnati at the Bearcats' place. Cincy has won their last four meetings against the Hoyas. However, Georgetown has won 6 straight and is the hottest team in the Big East. They are tied with Syracuse and Marquette atop the Big East. Cincy is sitting at the #8 spot. The Bearcats have gone 3-3 in the last 6 games. Georgetown is 6-0 in the last six games. Sean Kilpatrick is Cincy's leading scorer. He has the ability to get hot very quickly. Georgetown will be without Greg Whittington. Whittington is academically ineligible and has missed the last 10 games. Cincy will have the tough task of trying to stop Otto Porter. Porter is a Player of the Year candidate and has been the key to the Hoyas success. This will be a very close game, but I think that Georgetown will grind it out. Expect a low-scoring game. This G'town defense is arguably one of the best in the country.

Angry Birds

Tonight, Louisville and Notre Dame will go at it in South Bend. This is a huge matchup for both teams.  Both of these teams are looking to separate themselves from the rest of the pack in the Big East. College Gameday is in South Bend for this game. Jerian Grant and Eric Atkins will be the key for ND. They have to try to contain Peyton Siva. Siva is a good player, but sometimes he tries to do a little too much. Louisville is tied with Georgetown in the #3 spot in the Big East. however, the Hoyas have the tiebreaker on them. The Irish are sitting in the #7 spot. Many people think this will be close, but I think that the Cardinals will run away with this and win big.

Cool Joe and the Birds

Congratulations to the Ravens and the city of Baltimore for winning the Super Bowl. The Ravens beat the favored 49ers 34-31 on Sunday night. Ray Lewis's career ended with a win in new Orleans. The Ravens went up big, but because of a 34 minute power outage the 49ers managed to make it close. Joe Flacco won MVP. He played spectacular and threw 3 TDs. Anquan Boldin gave him some help. Boldin caught a few huge passes to give Baltimore key 1st downs. Boldin ended the game with a touchdown and 104 yards. Jacoby Jones had a phenomenal game with an 108-yard kickoff return to start the 2nd half that gave the Ravens a 28-6 point lead. He also had a 56-yard TD catch. John Harbaugh will have bragging rights over his younger brother, Jim. It was an up-and-down game, just like the whole Ravens season was.

Super Sunday

People have waited a year for this day, and it is finally here. The Super Bowl will kickoff at 6:30 tonight in the Mercedes Benz Superdome. There are so many storylines between the Ravens and 49ers.
Ray Lewis' Last Dance
This will be Ray Lewis' last game in the NFL. It has been a terrific career, and what better way to end it than in the Super Bowl. He has put up huge numbers in the wins against the Colts, Broncos, and Patriots. Lewis has accounted for 44 tackles. That is 18 more than any other player in the league. All eyes will be watching him take the field for one last time.
Battle of the Brothers
Jim Harbaugh and John Harbaugh will be coaching against each other for just the second time in their careers. The last time the Ravens and 49ers met the Ravens gutted out a win on Thanksgiving last season. Both of them have proved to be great coaches in the league.
The Game and My Pick
The 49ers are coming into this game favored by 3.5 points. These two teams matchup very well against each other. Both have a great running game and terrific front sevens on defense. The 49ers have the edge when it comes to the Offensive Line. This game will be very close and come down to the wire. The 49ers have struggled kicking the ball lately, which could hurt them tonight.
My Super Bowl Pick
I am 3-0 with my Super Bowl picks in the past. Let's see if I can make it 4-0.

Battle in Bloomington

What arguably could be the two best teams in the country in Michigan and Indiana will play tonight on the Hoosiers home court. Indiana comes in ranked #3, while the Wolverines are ranked #1 for the first time since the Fab Five. The last time Indiana played the #1 team in the country at home it was against Kentucky. That game ended in a buzzer beater by Christian Watford to give Indiana the win. These two teams sit atop the Big 10 standings. Tonight's game should come down to the wire, but I think that Indiana will get the win. Cody Zeller will have a big game for the Hoosiers.
